No One Likes To Step Back
Pastor Jim Montgomerie       ( Netherlands ) 2008-06-14     Views : 444     Touched : 102
No one likes to take a step back, and this is just the way it was with the chief priests, the scribes and the elders of the temple. They don't feel accepted by Jesus. They are under the impression that Jesus thinks he is the boss of the temple. Who gave him the authority?

Mark 11:28-29. And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things. And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask of you one question, and answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Mark 11:30. The baptism of John, was it from heaven , or of men? answer me.

But they don't know the answer, they don't even want to know the answer, they don't want to have anything to do with John the Baptist. The truth is, they did not want to see their sins then, just as the temple leaders of today will not admit they are sinners. No one likes to be confronted with the truth. The problem is, when you admit you were wrong you will have to take a step back.

If the temple leaders were to say they believed that the authority which was given to John the Baptist to baptize, came from heaven, they would have to admit they were wrong.

If the temple leaders were to say they believed that John was baptizing on mans authority, then it was their fear of man which held them back from admiting to this, because the people were on John's side.

Jesus laid it on the line for them. Jesus did not just do what he did to please himself. Jesus did what he did because of the baptisim he received from John the Baptist. John's authority had indeed come from heaven. His authority as the last High Priest from the line of Aaron, was to transfer all the sin of this world onto the last offer Lamb, " Jesus " at the moment of his Baptism. And this is why Jesus did what he did, this is why he came as the last offer lamb, to have all the sin of the world passed on to him and to die the way the offer lamb died to complete his work.

When we as the born again Saints from the Gospel of the Water and Spirit are preaching this Gospel to the so called temple leaders and their followers, we also come up against the same reactions as Jesus did. The people would rather see us dead than admit they are wrong. They all go into a defensive attitude and come up with the same reasoning as the temple preasts, scribes and the deacons. Why? because they know they are wrong, they just won't admit it for fear of being ridiculed.

One of the best examples the Bible gives us of this sort of behaviour is in. . . .

John 3:3-4. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nic-o-de'-mus saith unto him, How can a man be born again when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

The temple leaders, scribes, the deacons, and Nic-o-de'-mus, all tried to stand against Jesus with such questions just to cover their ignorance, all of which they backed up by their own self professed knowledge of the law. And this is the reason so many people today will not accept the Gospel of the Water and The Spirit. Deep in their hearts they know that they have sin, but their stuborness and fear of ridicule will be their downfall.

Why is it so hard for the Church leaders and the Christians of today, to admit they are wrong ( or even could be ). Simple! They have already said too much !
To take this back and admit that they were wrong would only hurt their pride.
If they admited they were wrong, then there is only one choice which they can make. This choice is what breaks them.

NO ONE LIKES TO TAKE A STEP BACK.

So to all my born again brothers and sisters, be blessed in the knowledge that you have been given the key's to the Kingdom of God because you were not afraid to step back.
