Our reading is taken from Gen 25:30-33 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. 31 And Jacob said; sell me this day thy birthright. 32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me? 33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he swore unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

This reading is telling us how Esau lost his birthright to Jacob the younger brother just to fill his stomach. One may ask why Jacob required his brotherís birthright in exchange for food. What will be the loss if Jacob had freely fed his brother Esau?

This could be seen from human perspective as uncultured for twin brothers to give to each other in exchange for personal gains. Believers who are not even blood tied do not give in return for reward, how more twin brothers.

It is written in Matt 5:41-42 that whosoever shall compel you to go a mile go with him twain. And give to him that asked you, and from him that would borrow of you do not turn that person away. But we could see a great contradiction to these verses from what Jacob did to his twin brother Esau. But the bible does not contradict itself.

This means there was a reason behind Jacobís request for the birthright of his brother Esau. In Gen 25:23 the LORD told Rebecca, two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

The two nations that are in the womb of Rebecca as said the Lord stands for the Kingdom of God and Hell. But the Kingdom of God is given to only FIRSTBORNS. They form the general assembly and the church which is in heaven and headed by Jesus, the mediator (Heb. 12:23).

It is therefore clear that the struggle between Jacob and Esau was all about the FIRSTBORN TITLE which is the Kingdom of God because Esau has already taken it by birth. Therefore Jacob has to struggle for it if he wanted to be a firstborn. That is why the bible said the Kingdom of God suffered violence and the violent shall take it by force (Matt. 11:12).

However these brothers were of different ambitions. Whilst Jacob was fighting for spiritual survival or for something that was spiritually given to his brother Esau through birth, Esau was thinking about how he could survive fleshly. So he asked for food in return of his spiritual possession. Romans 8:5 says for they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

So when we look at what transpired between Esau and Jacob, we will realize that Esau was fleshy thinker. He viewed life to end after death and do not value things that exist forever. With this fleshy thought, he did not see the importance of his birthright and did not even reason how possible his title as the first born could be wiped just by accepting his brotherís request. This is because to him it was not the firstborn title that feed him and also people will still see him (Esau) as the firstborn. So he told Jacob, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me.

But when we look at Jacob, we will notice that he thinks beyond the flesh and had realized that to be a partaker in the Kingdom of God; one must be a firstborn. This is because the children of God are selected through His firstborn Son Jesus Christ (Col. 1:15). So as it is written in Romans 9:13 God loved Jacob because he has chosen the path of life but hated Esau, for he has chosen the path of destruction.

After Esau has sold his birthright, his blessing from Isaac, their father was also given to Jacob his younger brother (Gen. 27:30). And since then the word of God does not recognize Esau when it comes to matters that relates to the Kingdom of God. So when God appeared to Moses at the time He was about to save the Israelites, He (God) to said Moses go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt (Ex 3:16).

Therefore, it is clear that Esau was eliminated from the children of God and replaced by his younger brother after he (esau) sold his birthright by following things that can only keep his flesh alive.

We are also been born the natural birth as Esau and Jacob, and are being entangled with Spiritual and Flesh forces which determine our destination after death whether to inherit Heaven or Hell. In this regard, God said in Deut. 30:19 that I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you, life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

But by trailing the path of Esau who followed the desires of the flesh, it means we have chosen to die as said in Deut. 30:19. It also means that we have sold our birthright and chosen to follow laws that suppress the flesh or human nature. That is why Galatians 3:10 said that for as many as are of the works of the law are under curse.

Therefore those who live according to requirements of laws to put themselves right with God, forgetting that man is not justified by works are descendants of Esau and have lost their birthrights. Those people have not rejected their human nature as Esau, neither have they seen the need to be spiritually minded as Jacob.

Jesus is the FIRSTBORN of all creation (Colo. 1:15) and to eliminate all struggles, He said His purpose on earth is to fulfill the law to deliver the poor, brokenhearted and the captive (Luke 4:18). So if someone wants to be a firstborn, he or she must face Jesus as Jacob faced Esau.

So to cancel all struggles to be made firstborns, Juse gave up his life for our sins so that we will be justified (1 Peter 3:18) as Esau gave up his birthright to Jacob for food. So we are firstborns through Jesus who willingly gave us His right so that through Him we are put right with God.

Jesus did this so that the birthright we lost through the disobedience of Adam will be restored. We could attain this right through faith in Him, so that Satan who destroyed us through Adam should not touch us again.

So if Jesus had fulfilled the law to make us firstborns, then we are not subject to any law on earth. This is because our aim on earth is to make Heaven, a place where only firstborns are allowed. Therefore if Jesus has given us His firstborn title, then we need not to work for it again.

The bible said in John 19:28 and 30 that after this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

It when Jesus gave up the ghost, that we were restored with the firstborn title we lost through Adam, because He has accomplished all the requirements of the law on our behalf. So He said it is finish, there is nothing to observe under the law anymore.

We have therefore received the blessings that were preserved for the Firstborn Child (Jesus Christ) and have become part of the general assembly and the church of firstborn in heaven. So there are no requirements to meet again so far as Jesus has given the ghost for our sake.

This implies that anyone who in one way or the other trying to do something to be put right with God apart from believing in the works of Jesus Christ has sold his or her birthright that Jesus bestowed on him or her just as Esau was relying on food to survive.

To inherit the birthright Jesus has bestowed on us, we must forsake the works of our flesh as Jesus told His disciples in Matt 19:29 that every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

The question is, have you sold your birthright bestowed on your by Jesus Christ?

Bless are those who are firstborns and form the general assembly and the church of firstborns in Heaven. AMEN.
